Participation of the Municipality of Lesvos at the 2nd technical meeting of the smart city applications program Smart Cities and at the 1st Workshop

The 2nd technical meeting of the project "Developing Intelligent City Applications in Municipalities of Cyprus, Crete and the North Aegean" took place successfully on 10/12/2018 with the acronym "Smart Cities" in the Municipality of Chania.

At the meeting attended by the Municipalities of Pafos, Chania, and Lesvos, the Municipality of Lesbos represented with their participation the A / Mayor of Development - European Programs and Technical Services Mr. Konstantinos Katsaros as well as officials.

The meeting presented the progress of the actions undertaken by each partner and the planning of the actions to be implemented by the end of the operation.

Also successfully completed the 1st Information Day of the action organized by the Municipality of Chania at the Center of Mediterranean Architecture at the Venetian Harbor of Chania on 11/12/2018.

The work was opened by the Mayor of Chania, Tasos Vamvoukas, welcoming the attendees and referring to the objectives of the Act emphasized the importance of the interaction of the Municipality with the citizens.

The Vice-Mayor of Lesvos, Mr. Katsaros and Mrs. Chitsiridis, Deputy Mayor of Chania , also addressed the meeting,

Representatives of the Beneficiaries of the Act for the Municipality of Paphos Mr. Michalis Zanos and for the Municipality of Lesbos Mrs. Zoi Anatoliti, presented the content, the purpose and the sub-objectives at local and cross-border level. Ms. Sevasti Polychronakis, Head of the Department of Planning of Organization and Informatics of the Municipality of Chania and the Chief of Operations, presented among other things the actions, designed and implemented by the Municipality within the framework of the "smart city" in the fields of governance, environment and living.
Following was the presentation of the feasibility and the content of the Operational Plan for the implementation of the "smart city" actions and the Strategic Marketing Plan for the identification of Chania, to be elaborated in the framework of the Act by Mr. Ioannis Mavroyiannis.

At the same time, presentations on City Branding and Smart City were made by Mr. Konstantinos Mohianakis, Project Manager, Org. And Informatics of the Municipality of Heraklion and Mr. Stylianos Tsafarakis, Assistant Professor of the Department of Production Engineering and Management of the Technical University of Crete, Despina Dimellis, Assistant Professor at the School of Architectural Engineering of the Technical University of Crete and Mr. Konstantinos Alketas Hugrinis, Associate Professor at the School of Architectural Engineering of the Technical University of Crete.

Smart Cities is integrated into the Interreg V-A Greece Cyprus 2014-2020 Co-operation Program and co-funded by the European Union (ERDF) and National Resources of Greece and Cyprus. The main Beneficiary is the Municipality of Pafos and the beneficiaries of the Municipalities of Lesvos and Chania.

Its purpose is to develop applications and actions using ICT to improve the interaction of Municipality and municipalities, while at the same time creating an attractive environment for visitors, businesses and institutions.
