The operation "Development of smart city applications in the Municipalities of Cyprus, Crete and North Aegean", known as the acronym SmartCities, is part of the Interreg V-A program. Greece - Cyprus 2014-2020. The primary objective of the act is to create "smart cities" between the municipalities of Paphos, Chania and Lesvos. whereby the use of modern technologies will develop systems of interaction of municipalities primarily with citizens, and then with businesses and their visitors.
The Municipality of Paphos is the Main Beneficiary of the operation, ie the main responsible for coordination of the operation. The other beneficiaries of the operation are the Municipality of Chania and the Municipality Lesvos. This act, which has started its implementation in 2017 and is expected to Completed by the end of 2019, it has a total budget of 643,000.00 euros.
