Development of Digital Tourism / Culture and Entrepreneurship Digital Platform in the context of “Smart Cities” project

Within the framework of the actions defined by the operation "Development of smart city applications in Municipalities of Cyprus, Crete and Northern Aegean" known as the "Smart Cities" in which the Municipality of Paphos participates as the Principal Beneficiary, the Digital has been completed and created Tourism / Culture and Entrepreneurship Platform named “Explore Pafos”. This platform is a common web portal between all partners in the action through which each city's points of interest are promoted and various services are offered to users. Information such as finding historical sites, describing the history of a point of interest, Pafos Municipality's online participation platform as well as plenty of photographic material are some of the services offered through this platform. This platform is available through the link https://www.explorepafos.org/. In addition, users of the Municipality of Paphos can use the platform and take advantage of the services offered through touch screens installed in the context of various points of interest in Paphos.

The "Smart Cities" project, entitled "Development of smart city applications in the Municipalities of Cyprus, Crete and the North Aegean", involves the Municipality of Paphos as the Principal Beneficiary, the Municipality of Chania and the Municipality of Mytilene. The primary objective of the project is to create "smart cities" conditions for project partners through the development of interactive systems to increase transparency and information to the public and other stakeholders of the project.

Other actions involving the Municipality of Paphos include the procurement and installation of four sets of Wi Fi Hot Spots and three indoor touch screens that are installed at points of interest for public use, and a business plan for the full implementation of "smart city" actions. "in the city of Paphos as well as developing a Strategic Marketing plan to identify Paphos (City Marketing, City Branding).

The Smart Cities project is being implemented under the Interreg VA Cooperation Program "Greece - Cyprus 2014-2020" and was launched in November 2017 and is expected to be completed in February 2020. The project has a total budget of € 643,000.00 of which € 361,000.00 € corresponds to the Municipality of Paphos.
