Mytilene Municipality's 2nd Information Day on “Smart Cities”

Successfully completed the 2nd Information Day of the Act, organized by the Municipality of Mytilene, in the hall of events of the General Secretariat of the Aegean and Island Policy on 18/02/2020.
The work was opened by the Mayor Mr. Efstratios Tzimis, welcoming the attendees and then referred to the opportunities created for the Municipalities, with these collaborations in the framework of cross-border programs. Representatives of the Beneficiaries of the Act, for the Municipality of Paphos Mrs Diamantos Giannaras, for the Municipality of Chania Mrs Sevasti Polychronakis, and for the Municipality of Mytilene, Mrs Zoi Anatolitis, employee of the Planning Directorate, , presented the content, purpose, individual objectives at local and cross-border level, the actions planned and implemented by each partner, as well as the results of the action and the experience gained during its implementation.
Then came the presentation of the deliverables of the transaction '3.3.1. Collection of documentation and digitization of material of cultural and tourist interest "and" 4.3.1. Development of digital applications of e-democracy and participation in the municipality ”, by Mr. Alexander Tzortzakakis, on behalf of the contractor.
At the same time there were presentations on Smart Cities issues by Mr. Konstantinos Mochianakis, Head of Information Technology of Heraklion Municipality and Mr. Christos Kalloniatis, Associate Professor of the Department of Cultural Technology and Communication of the Aegean University.

The Smart Cities Act is part of the Interreg V-A Greece Cyprus 2014 - 2020 Partnership Program and is co-funded by the European Union (ERDF) and National Resources of Greece and Cyprus. The main beneficiary is the Municipality of Paphos and the co-beneficiaries are the Municipalities of Mytilene and Chania.
Its purpose is to develop applications and actions using ICT to improve the interaction between Municipality and citizens, while creating an attractive environment for visitors, businesses and stakeholders.
